Dooe-r heads to make 700-750 hp ?? what will it take
okay i have a stock virgin set of dooe-r that i picked up last summer for 500 $ that i couldnt pass up
im going back in forth to use these or buy a set of scj new
going to 466-472 ci
stock crank
h beams
prob flat tops
my question on these heads , i only wanna be in the 700-750 hp range which i know these heads will go a lot more . what will it take ?
bowl work and new valves and a good valve job ? only or would i need more done to them ? Obviously be set up with roller cam springs
im weighing out using these vs the scj
the extra weight of the iron is fine actually i think its better in this app .........pro dial is 9.00-17.99 dial in
if i knew i was going to have this maverick right now , i wouldnt have sold the Doves Randy did for me lol that combo i had would have been Perfect

Use the SCJ aluminum heads since you have them and spend money getting them max ported. Sell the iron CJs to fund the porting job.

We'll that means you need to get some good porting done and if you can use domed pistons to get the compression up.
You'll need heads flowing in the 390 I 200 E at about .700-.800 about 14:1 compression and 270-275 intake and 282-287 exhaust duration on a 108, big headers and a well ported victor or a Mafia intake with an 1150-1250 dominator. 750 will be real close.

Re: Dooe-r heads to make 700-750 hp ?? what will it take
....im prob going with scj with backcut on intake and bowl work
should be easier and more cost effective to get to 700-750 hp .
you may see the DOOE-R for sale on here in in sometime

Did an engine a few years back, 466 with flat tops, big roller, weiand tunnel ram and 2 worked dominators and a set of full boogie p-51s. Got in the 740-750 range with that one.
You'll need a little more than a bowl blend and back cut to get 700-750.

most builds i see on here are 800 hp plus with p51 heads and scj heads when ported
with the car being light weight if it comes up short of 700hp thats not bad either
Thanks for info

Most of Those builds aren't only 466"s and most have a lot of compression.

Re: Dooe-r heads to make 700-750 hp ?? what will it take
If you already have a 4.3 stroke crank I would just use that with the proper pistons and rods and have a bigger engine that you don't have to run as hard to make 700-750 hp... Are you still interested in the ported scj's? My pulling buddy would probably do some trading with you as he needs another set of iron cj heads.... Let me know...
