Prayed and thoughts needed for David Cole's family.
David's youngest brother Matt was seriously injured in a MVA yesterday afternoon. He was helping a man who's car broke down push his car out of the road. They were hit by another car. The man he was helping was killed. Matt has crushed foot and poss. A broken pelvis. He had surgery last night. I do not believe he has life threatening injuries. I'm sure David will update his condition when more info is available. The guy who died was a local man age 83. "Shorty Tucker" he was a good dude had known him all my life. Sure his family could use prayers as well.

Re: Prayed and thoughts needed for David Cole's family.
Thanks guys. He's banged up pretty bad but will be ok in time.
Many of you know I work as a Railroad Engineer. Both my brothers work for the railroad as well. The youngest, Matt, age 37, is a foreman in the track maint. dept. Matt was on duty in his company truck a couple of miles from where we grew up on a road parallel to the track. He topped a hill and saw an older man, Mr. Tucker, whose car was stalled in the road. Matt turned around and went back. Turned on his flashers, strobe lights on top of his truck and put on his orange vest.
He was trying to help Mr. Tucker push his car out of the road when another man topped the hill and ran into them. Don't know the details on that driver other than he was 86. He was injured and taken to the hospital, but I have heard he was not badly hurt. Mr. Tucker, the stalled driver passed away either at the scene or in the Life Flight helicopter before they got to the hospital.
My brother was taken by another helicopter to the UAB Trauma unit in Birmingham. He has a fractured left foot, fractured pelvis, bruised lung as well as many other bumps and bruises. I think he took a glancing blow from the car. His jeans were torn from the hip pocket all the way down his leg. The biggest issue is his right foot. Pretty much broke all the bones in his right foot. They did surgery last night and put 2 rods in place that go all the way through side to side. Looks like an erector set. The rods are to stabilize it all until the swelling goes down. The swelling is already improved somewhat and they hope to do the first of at least 2 surgeries early next week to rebuild his foot. He has good blood flow, has feeling in and can move his toes, so that's good. He will be ok in the long run I'm sure, just lot's of pain now and in the immediate future as well as some tough physical therapy coming up

David,
Of course we are all sorry to hear about this accident. Your brother was a Good Samaritin and trying to help a neighbor. The world needs more people like him. I'm praying for a full recovery and his return to good health.
