Thanks for your service Russ. You guys had it rough over there and even worse when you got home. Bad deal. I went to The Wall in Washington when I was 19. What an experience.

Well Bill, Thanks for the Thanks...But I didnt do anything compared to alot of the guys and gals...I was just a Flight line Machinist..and tried to help to keep the Birds in the air.So the Pilots could get out and do there jobs..

I come from a long line of guys that fought in the Trench's and right up to being Pilots..and they to me were the one's that my hats off too...

As the Saying goes...All gave some....Some gave it All !!

When I go to the VA Hospital for a Doc check-up or whatever ? I'll get with a bunch of the Older Guys and sit and listen to there stories...they enjoy it, as do I... I get more out of them than they give me talking about there personal War stories...

I'll be making a trip down there a little later today...and stop in the Residents ward and visit some of them for awhile..

God Bless All our First Responder's Today ! The Men and Women in Uniform !

Ya vol Herr Kommandant!!

My best Hogan's Heros.

Our world would be very different without the US, Canuck, Aussy, Limey and all the other allied soldiers.

Post  John I. November 11th 2009, 10:46 pm

So many that died and never got to enjoy the fruits of their bravery. I seen a neat thing on the tube the other night. A school in BC has it's art students painting portraits of CDN soldiers who have died in Afghanistan. The students had to research the soldiers, talk to their families, and generally get to know their life's story, and then paint their portrait. It completely changed the students outlook on soldiers, and they talked softly and emotionally about the guys they were painting. I wonder how they ever found an art teacher in BC who would think of something like that...
(Disclaimer) If anyone on here is a BC art teacher, or knows one, sorry... Very Happy
