stripped bell housing
Hey guys---
Long story short, my starter kicked back twice last night and pulled the bottom starter bolt smooth out of my C6. Should I drill and tap to 7/16" bolt or put a 3/8" helicoil in it? Timing while cranking is around 20* advanced.
Thanks,
Jon

I'd put an insert in and get a retard box if it's kicking back that bad.

I have the new programmable 6AL MSD box. What amount of advance would you shoot for during cranking. Right now my curve is flat At 20 degrees until 1400rpm then ramps to 31 degrees by 2800rpm. It is almost infinitely adjustable via lap top!
523" SCJ head 10:1 compression.
I just picked up a helicoil kit-- 35 bones w/ the tab, drill, insertion tool, and inserts.

Try something like 10 during cranking and then have it hit your curve when it starts

Re: stripped bell housing
Heli coil is in and starter back on! Now I just have to map out a new timing curve to eliminate this occasional kick back. Thanks guys for all the help!
