My Ford Contour
My son has a 2000 Ford Contour with a 2.5. Was running like Ka Ka with a check eng light. I pulled the code and got a P1405 which is a DPF sensor

Replaced the sensor and the hose keeps popping off. Replaced the hose and it keeps popping off. Its the upstream pressure hose...
I hate to replace the cat if I am not sure that's the problem. I suspect if the cat is plugged it will create excessive pressure on the upstream pressure hose causing it to blow off.
And input?
Thanks
Tom

Re: My Ford Contour
If the Cat is plugged it will be down greatly on power and the inlet to the cat will be glowing RED in the dark. I don't think thats the problem.

Hi Rick
I wonder if a guy can use a thermal hand held scanner to check the cat. I thought I read that somewhere. I will run the snot out of it tonight and look at the cat in the dark to see if its glowing.

Re: My Ford Contour
Typically if the cat con is plugged, there will be very little exhaust flow out the tailpipe
Alot of times it will blow out a flange gasket and make a whistling noise

There not unless you work on them all the time
It went to the wrecking yard out here looking for a front clip. (Fell asleep on the way home from work). Anyway, all the contours and mystiques, all died with in 30k of each other. It was around the 150k point..

I've had a few Contours and they were good cars. I've also crushed about 10.
