Dee , just throw your chute and let it do the majority of the shutdown and you won't have to brake so hard. They get bouncing trying to apply the brakes over the "hump" in the left lane.

Just try to get a lot of seat time between now and then, you'll be okay. Pretty soon it will be like driving a Lincoln Town Car down the track. If it's any consolation to you, little Kristina Lawyer has run a 4.53 e.t. down that track and won the Ford Bash Super Pro class this year.

Uncle Charlie,
I get as much time as Mike's allows me. I am not scared of it at all. I'm actually pretty calm and confident. I did get very excited friday night because I knew it was a good run. I knew it was haulin' @ss !!! I knew I was sitting on a rocket and it felt DAM GOOD. Kristina's a great driver, but there is one BIG difference between her car and mine.......mine's a hard tail

The main thing is everyone goes home safe Dee. We're all here to help each other (well most of us) You just need to be careful on a short shutdown with a fast car. I'm not comfortable there at 5.50 in my car without the chute. I can stop it...BUT if something happens ,it's always better to be safe than sorry. It only takes a few minutes to repack the chute Besides the chicks dig it

Agreed...Safety is always first with us. Our outlaw track has a pretty decent shutdown and they have even extended with a gravel area beyond the paved shutdown area, but eventhough I am comfortable in the seat, I still don't have to experience to take chances of any kind. What might be easy for Mike, you, or others, ya'll have had lots of experience. I haven't even made 30 passes yet I don't think. and that's including the 9 passes I made at Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School. Besides..I've never thrown the chute, I look forward to doing it just to see what it's like . I'll be as good as you guys one day!

I don't know about all this talk either,,,,,,,,,she's told us she has a hard tail, and now then we hear that Mikey is going to be packing her chute!?! I think it's probally best, to leave your all's personal life out of this thread
Back to the dragster, Dee, what rpm did you go through the lights at? 7200-7300 sounds about right to me, with an 1/8th mile gear.

I thought that was the reason the tach has one of those recall button thingies

Great job Dee!Trust me the corn field is a hell of alot softer than the wall.QtrWarriorLady wrote:MsKY...thank you Tell your old man I am gonna be the fist p-headed motor in the 4's
Thanks Ted, hope all is well with you in OKC. You get the house finished yet? I hope to get to see the finished project one of these days. I know it will be beautiful!
Everyone... I am thankful for all of the well-wishes and support and any and all help you may have given Mike. I greatly appreciate it! But I am dreading the attempt at a full pass at Windy Hollow next year. Too scared I'm gonna bounce off into the corn field. But hell, the corn is a lot softer than a brick wall so I guess I'll give it a shot.
Thats "Karn" to you Damon
