514 Dyno guesstimate
last winter I built a 514 short block for one of my best friends and Forum member.I won't mention his name because I didn't ask his permission too post.he might chime in,not sure.
Anyway,it was a 4.14 crank,6.8 rod,4.440 bore deal w/p51 Scj valve angle pistons. Some of the spec's I will guess at because I sent his Cam card and other info back w/engine. He had a set of p51 heads w/2.300 1.76 stainless valves. Sent them too one of the best head guy's around and had the porting and vj done. They averaged 438 int. at 750 and 440 at 800. and 265 on the ext. side. I'm thinking the cam lift was in the 768 range w/seems like 112 lsa. 15.1 comp.Could stand a lot more Cam imo. Mafia intake also ported by same guy. The biggest carb he had was 1250 w/99 jets and it wanted more he said but that as big as he had. What HP do you guy's think it made on the Dyno @ 7000. I haven't seen the sheet,as he didn't have it w/him when he called me tonight.

514 dyno
Without knowing .050" numbers I would say somewhere north of 900ish ??
That's really good flow on those P51's about 15-20 more than some others.

The reason the cam is so small is it was speced a few years back when the heads were stock.it will def pickup w/new cam speced for the new head flow. Dave, my guess was close to yours just before it went to dyno.My guess was 870 and the owner said he would be happy with 850.

With a 514, unless it has titanium intake valves and can easily rev higher, a bigger cam won't add much horsepower at all. Maybe 10 or so but. it would lose at least twice as much torque.
Re: 514 Dyno guesstimate
Thx Randy, that's why I leave the cam design to the pro's.

With the flow numbers posted would it not have more power with cam specs similar to 270*@.050" .785"/285*@.050" .800" lift?

Re: 514 Dyno guesstimate
I sent the results to Rick and he can't post them and I don't know how. If I send the dyno sheet out can someone post it up?
Thanks Tore

Rick, nice job if it ran on 93 octane pump gas that would be a nice engine for my Mustang.

If you don't have a scanner just take a picture of the sheet and post it like any other picture.
