Coming new law in Michigan...
Personally, It is about damn time.
"Potential welfare recipients will be required to be drug tested in order to receive any benefits", just passed the state house today and passed the state senate last August and will be presented to the Governor to be signed into law.
He is a republican governor so, that is almost a given.

Sounds good to me. I gotta get tested for CDL and random at NHRA national events.
No reason to not test.
Also, Indiana is requiring training for work, working or community service for able bodied people with no children at home.
No free ride unless warranted.

Hopefully the law sticks. Gov. Scott got that passéd here that anyone receiving state monies/benefits would have to be tested. I believe that state employees also must be tested as part of their employment which was the reasoning to implement, makes perfect sense. Anyway someone didn't agree and got ACLU involved and sued the state; forced repeal.
Sucks how many people game the system, I for one am tired of supporting them.

They need to make it a law in every state to drug test, do community serve/make them turn in a paper signed from where they been looking for work like they do here for unemployment unless they are disable. Then tell the ACLU if they don't like it leave the country and go find another country where they can live off the government.

A amount saved by not giving years of welfare to drug users will greatly out distance the cost of the drug testing.

Our Canadian bretheran did get a few things completely right when they passed laws around the 1980's that unless it is grandfathered, only Canadian citizens can own land in Canada ... the buildings or businesses on the surface is fine but, not the land.
AND, Unless you are a Canadian citizen the Constitutional rights do NOT apply to you; merely human rights.
I believe they saw the writing of "political correctness" on the wall and got ahead of it.

Government is collecting the money from the hard working people, they must be more accountable for how it is spent. I would not give my hard earned money to buy someone drugs, so why should the Government. A step in the right direction at least.

new law
I am a small business owner and I agree about spending our taxes wisely, so:
check all welfare/ Medicaid/ Medicare recipients for alcohol
make sure no one collecting any of the three is overweight
cut out red meat, they don't need it
sell off state and National parks
do away with CDC
stop subsidizing airports, you can drive
stop subsidizing road systems, make them all toll roads
put all prisoners to work, quit feeding them
eliminate tax breaks for corporations
eliminate breaks for trust funds
eliminate support for colleges & Universities
I could go on and on but just remember your SHIT stops where mine starts

I'll settle for not paying for their drug habit for now,
Re: Coming new law in Michigan...
I like the idea of the drug testing for entitlements.
My question is how effective will they be if there are children in the house?
I can't imagine that all benefits will be cut off to a family if a parent fails a drug test. If you reduce what you give them, the parent will probably just take from the child. Not really the child's fault that their parent is a piece of crap.
Will drug users start having even more children to get around the drug tests?

If the applicant tests positive, and lives in the same household w/children, either the kids or applicant needs to be removed imo

If I have to take a drug test in order to get a job "allowing" me to make the money to pay for the unemployed, the unemployed should at least have to take a drug test in order to receive the money. Way to go Michigan! Just waiting for the backlash, the "typical players" will be there hollerin' and screamin'.
