Must be decent on gas and less than 2500$ bux. And by decent on gas I mean at least 25mpg. Ideas???? Go....

Looking at mid 2000 Taurus. I drive 125 milesa day easy so I need something good on petrol.

And the price is flexible. But the other car is taking up funds lol.....

Taurus SHO, T-Bird Turbo or Super coupe, Merkur, Escort GT 1.9 5-sp, 2.3l fox Mustangs, 4-cyl ranger,Fusion, Probe all will give the required, some may deserve a cage, a BBF and some narrowing when you are done commuting it

I just bought a real nice 00 Taurus ses w/DOHV Duretec 148k mi. for my wife to drive in the winter.had new tires.Guy said it had a miss,wouldn't put out any heat,and PS pump growled after he replaced w/new one. Wanted $900,gave him $500 and hauled it home. Added anti freeze,PS fluid,and replaced #2 coil w/used one I had in shop. All is good now,31 mpg and Runs/drives like new.

Tony,check when the state has their repo and drug/police auctions. You can pickup some nice cars there. Here in ohio they have auction once every month and there are plenty to choose from for cheap.good luck

Check with the credit unions too. Sometimes they have good deals on repo's.

As Rick said, those taurus' are pretty good little cars. Another thought, have you considered a late model crown vic? They are a V8 car,and a little bigger, but they do get 22-25 mpg's out on the highway. A guy up the road from me has one and he swears it's the best car for the money. His is a 2004 P71 (ex detective's car). He paid $2500 for it.He has put a hitch on it and tows his atv and side by side up to the mountains, then drives it to work the rest of the week. He also told me that people who "cruise" at 70 mph in the left lane just seem to move on over when he gets behind them. Lol.

My Dad has 2002 Mercury Grand Marquee his got 26 mpg going up to Atlanta when I carried him to get his Hearing Aid and you sure can't be the ride they have.

I've had good luck with Saturns, easy to work on, parts are cheap and they run forever as long as you keep oil in them. Stick with the single overhead cam engines, they are pretty much trouble free. I've got a 2001 Sl1 with a 5 speed that gets 25-28 in town and 35-40 on the road.

Sick of driving my Dually everyday, although it gets 21-22 on the HWY. Just inconvenient

Just curious Tony, why not a motorcycle and use the dually on inclimate days?

I have an 06 v6 Taurus that I have had very few problems with. Has 90k on it and so far only plugs, coil pack and the flex coupling between the manifold and rest of the exhaust system. I doubt the wife would part with it now. She has a jeep gran Cherokee she leaves parked now since I got her the Taurus.
