more rear suspension qestions
alright guys trying to build some ladder bars for the rear of my truck.
it is a 89 f350 with stock set up in the front and I have done a shackle flip in the rear to remove the blocks. im going to use a ladder bar with a shackle at the mounting point because I cant use sliders in my class.
I need some help figuring where to put the front mount and how long to make the bars.
the truck has around 500 horse power and the same in torque
it is not gutted so its a heavy mofo
38.5 boggers
3.55 gears
bw 1356 t case
c6 trans
it is ran in hill and hole racing and it gets rough
only has the three longest leafs left in the rear
the tuck hooked ok for what it was before the shackle flip but I know 3 leaves will not stop axle wrap and if set up wrong the bars can hurt more than help and im not trying to go backwards.
any help would be great
thanks mike

Can you use housing floaters? You can leave in your shackles but it won't be as "smooth" as having the sliders but you really need the floaters to keep things from binding. What about coilovers?

I have looked into this briefly. It's all about finding the center of gravity of your truck. There are a lot of good books out there that go trough how to find your intersection points.

no I can not use floaters sliders or coilovers that is why I was thinking about a shackle on the frame side of the ladder bar.
I think I have got the center of gravity figured out for front to back but not so sure on the up and down if that makes sense.
and would I put the solid mount at that point or the end of the shackle at that point.

I could use caltracs but I already have the tube and heims from another project and would like to use what I have.
I have also ben doing a lot of research and I am starting to grasp the concept but there are still a few grey areas that I need to workout
