I am officially RETIRED, Yee ha!
41 years, 11 months, and 3 days, but who's counting Strange feeling knowing that I won't have to get up at 3:30 in the morning anymore It took me almost 4 days to go around and say bye to just about everyone I know. Almost 9000 people working in Savannah and I think I shook hands and hugged about 1000 of them.
Re: I am officially RETIRED, Yee ha!
Way to go Doug, probably need a day or two to get the feeling back in your hand.

Way to go Grandpa. You should get a Congressional Medal of Honor for staying with one job that long.

Re: I am officially RETIRED, Yee ha!
Thank you all very much! Man what a ride it was, lots of memories.
Back in Dec. just the before the Christmas Holidays my Dept. totally caught me off guard with a retirement luncheon. I thought I was going to a second meeting about a serious issue some guys on the Final Line caused which ended up being a skin change and they wanted my input on how to do it. Well, when I walked into our Conference Rm with my Boss, the whole Dept. was there, room was decorated and food on the table . Our MBU Executive Assistant decorated the room with a racing theme
My Manager made a nice long speech, and figured that in my almost 42 years I had worked 80,000 plus hours and approximately another 20,000 hours of overtime.
I was presented with several nice gifts, two of them being a dept group photo mounted that everyone signed and a really nice Gulfstream watch.
Boy, I wish I had the SolidWorks programWheelie58 wrote:Oh

Funny you should mentioned that. When I went to HR for my exit interview the HR Rep. said that they were looking at putting together a group of retirees to come in as consultants on probably a quarterly basis to help resolve issues that may come up in production. She put my name on the call list when they work out the details. I said fine as long as the money is good .jasonf wrote:Congratulations Doug.

It is nice to see you made it and they recognize it. So many companies layoff long term employees to save money so I am happy for you.

My car isn't ready, but anytime you want to take yours somewhere just say the word.
Re: I am officially RETIRED, Yee ha!
Looks like most of them in the picture are young enough to be your grandkids.....lol And they are probably just there to make sure the old effer is really leaving lol.
