around here we have $1500 and a few times in the summer we have $5000 and $10,000 dollar pots... But we are all guilty of the above...

All the time. But there is also the times that I won't even open the trailer door for under 1G

Got me on of those money pits too.... Got rid of the 41' hole in the water a few years back.... But got a 2 wheel money burner to replace it.

Most racers are kidding their selves in the first place if they go HOPING too win.For me its for the fun of the sport and the comradery with my friends.As far as a $10k hauler.Why not, as long as it's safe and does the job.

Just out of high school, My pick-up truck was full of tires along with spare parts and I used a to have a simple removable tow-bar and narrow towing tires. Needed to remove the driveshaft for going there and coming back.
NOW ... those 18 to 30 year olds don't want to do whatever it takes to go racing ... if they don't have a dually pick-up and an enclosed trailer they don't even try. My money was all in the racecar...

Randy I used a tow bar many many miles when I was young pulled my car 50 to 150 miles one way and back that night after the races...

Yeppp guilty here also but it's my drug and at least I have something to show for it...

I only druve about 40 miles one way, havnt destroyed anything besides an oilpan, some spindles, and the feelings of the guy lined up besides me......

10k hauler is a lot better tnan a 40k one w a 10k car in it.....

I'm the other side of the story. 40k car and a 500 trailer... aint to far from my house to the drag strip

Guilty...next is 50 street miles one way to the track c/w chase and tools, maybe rent a room for the car closer (5-10 miles).

Back in the early 70's,hardly anyone used anything other than a Tow Bar. If you seen a Carhauler coming in ,he usually had a BaddAss S/S,M/P,or Gasser on it and he WAS there to take home the Cash $$$$$$$$

Rick, my car was that record holding SS/KA "68 Camaro Convertible; as I said ALL my money was tied up in the car.
My longest "tow bar" trip was to Reading, Penn from Detroit through the mountains on the PA turnpike.
Anything like an open trailer was borrowed and was just not necessary to own if it took funds away from going fast.

Could you see a young guy doing that today...? Never happen.

Hell I just LOVE racing !! I take a $100.000 car ,$10.000 trailer , $20,000 Motorhome . Do all the Tech inspections at the track for FREE , Pay To Race the Car , AND WHEN WE WIN i GIVE ALL THE WINNING back to the track!!! As my home track is a club run track !!
