Some want the shorter deck height to reduce push rod length and help valve train stability. Plus if you have CID limits their is some times no need for the additional weight of the higher block also.

BBF Deck height Empty short deck block

Post  jsaracing11 January 3rd 2010, 8:23 pm

Hey Bruno I know this is an old thread but havent posted in a while and well just wanted to post Very Happy I have 2 new 9.75 deck blocks coming from california hopefully here in the next week I will post some pics when they get here but my reason for this is the 525 inch limit, valve train geometry for over 1"lift and 9500 to 9800 rpm engine, the piston design, rod length. to make a 525 with a 10.00 deck then make a 525 with a 9.75 deck same cubic inch motor i would rather have more bore then stroke with 3 stages or possibly 4 there is defenitely more room to play I know everyone has mixed feelings on builds like this but I just thought the short deck would be the route to go. When I get some parts setting here i will get some photos up. Happy new yrs everybody. Jeremy.A
