Sheet metal vs cast intake
For an 1/8 mile drag car big tire 2400lb with 632 will a cast intake or a sheet metal intake better for this combo. Single fogger system.

The Ford racing intake works well for the $$$ the sheet metal stuff will make more power but it's at $3000 + an additional carb.

Re: Sheet metal vs cast intake
When using a Victor ... I know a couple racers who have re-fabbed just the #1 and # 8 runners with sheet metal for a pretty substantial gain with 520/530 sized engines.
SO, sheet metal AND cast you could say.

Hymmm.... Use plenum and rails... Sheet metal... Wieand Tunnel ram. Might have to get me another and see what can be done. Never even thought about that. Not like aluminum tubing is that expensive.

But once you start injecting directly into the cylinder, the manifold becomes less of an issue. Jon Kaase told me that if you add N20, the heads don't care if they are just "okay".

Re: Sheet metal vs cast intake
If a guy had 1,200 hp rather 1,100 hp ....that's 100 hp of spray a guy does not have to manage.
Re: Sheet metal vs cast intake
Fewer failure points makes a combination so much more fun to manage. Problem lies in the already discussed issues of the N2O builds. If your going to spray player loads you going to compromise max NA performance.
Jon which block are you using to build the 632? Heads? And of course this threads subject... which manifold is getting worked?

Life is full of compromises. But, putting a mediocre cylinder head on a sprayed 632 engine isn't one I'd make.
Re: Sheet metal vs cast intake
Me either. C. Thor or B441. Problem is finding some I can afford.
