I think it's evac system the valve covers don't have a baffle in them it will soon be fixed this was the first pass on new motor still some bugs to work out...
It went 6.7s with a 1.4 short with a converter not set up right or the carb she runs on E85

Put that 'Bird on a diet and flog it.
Nice meeting the beanster yesterday.
Roy, while you're fixing the evac deal don't forget that vacuum pump. ,,,,,then drag that thing back up here and make some laps.

Um-m-m....Roy adds a pound or two. As Lem would say, "That boy's full growed."
The 'Bean will soon be seen at tracks all over FL...and maybe 'Bama too.

Re: Butterbean's pass in alabama
Thanks everybody for the kind words its been a long time coming, that was my first pass sense 03-2011 and a little rusty but it came back quickly, we had worked on the car most of the week on the role bar and other odds and ends and did not have enough time to adjust valves or timing and jet carb, its still all the same from when I put the engine back into it, so I set the 2 step at 3600 and shift at 6600, it has a old pontiac 8" converter that I had laying around and the T-400 tranny, all the chassic settings are where Steve4570 had left it so I'm really happy how it ran for shake down passes and lifting before the MPH stripe, yes I'm FULL GROWN so my 370 pound azz don't help the weight of the already heavy Bird, it had a 1.489 60' and went 6.741 @ 101.72 lifting a tad early so I wanna say thanks to Gmsmkr (Mike) for all the help and the hospitality while in Alabama we had a really cool week, and it was nice meeting Mavrick and I will be coming back to race with y'all in Bama, on a side note one of my good friends Rob Reynolds is hosting a 5000. to win top and bottom bulb race at SGMP in Jan-2016 so if anybody wants to try to win the 5G come race with us, it may be cold but 5G will make the drive home nice.

Re: Butterbean's pass in alabama
This has me convinced that the power in these engines is in the heads, cam setup. I KNOW my car isn't as heavy. I KNOW I have 80+ cubic inches over the bird and I KNOW mine wont be as quick first pass out with Dove heads and a baby cam. I gotta find me a deal on a set of heads, have a cam done then change the convertor.
ok
mine is the same way factory dash radio equalizer power windows consal still intach along with factory wiring harness ran a separate fusebox and harness to convert to drag car. with only 31,000 miles on it I don't have the heart to cut it up. my new weight reduction plan driver replacement. interesting the weight differance of a small bock to big block.
