Just having fun
Hello everyone pretty new to the world of the BBF. Im just wanting to have a little fun and get some expert opinions.
My first BBF will be going on the dyno next week or the week after. I thought it would be fun to get some gueses as to how muchpower she will make. I will post real results good or bad when its dynoed.
Here are a few engine specs A460 block with 4.5 bore callies 4.3 stroke crank 547 cubic inches. Gas ported diamond pistons with a final compression ratio of 14.6.1 Oliver rods 6.8 long.
Heads are Kaase P51s hand ported by Kaase racing standard valve size with titanium reatainers and titanium valves with upgraded manley nex tec springs and T&D shaft rockers. Had to upgrade springs due to fairly rowdy Kaase grind solid roller cam .904 comp elite race lifters.
Cam specs intake duration 326 at .050 286 lift .826. Exhaust duration 346 at.050 304 lift .830 lobe seperation is 114. Danny Bee belt drive.
Ported Mafia intake with a 1250 holley gen 4 ultra dominator fully prepaired by Dale Cubic msd crank trigger ignition with a moroso four vane vacuum pump 15 inches of vacuum maximum. Pistons .010 in the hole with.040 cometic gasket. It is a heavy nitrous engine so i backed down compression and the cam is a dedicated nitrous piece. It does have two induction solution foggers on it but will NOT be used during dyno runs. The engine was machined and assembled and dynoed by Kuntz and Company. Lets have fun guess away its my first ford so lets have fun. Its going in a 2600 pound fox mustang.
Thanks for reading
Chris

Thanks good reading. I am using the kaase pump and pan combo im also using the exhaust adapters to run 2 3/8 to 2 1/2 step headders with 5 inch collectors. We are going to try different carb spacers to see if i pick up some power there. Thanks for the help this is my first 385 series ever i have done a few FE engines and had good luck

Re: Just having fun
If your gonna put the man shot on it id want twice as much quench as you have, plus id pull another point of compression out.
Your gonna have to turn some rpm w that deal also.

That's a lot of cam for NA numbers. 2 foggers?

Re: Just having fun
If it gets up to 8,000 RPM you will probably get the numbers you are looking to have.
The headers are a little to big and the collectors are a lot to big for NA but, should be in the ballpark for a Nitrous application.
Nitrous is a torque maker...

Re: Just having fun
It took John a day or two to spec the cam my shift point should be around 7600 and around 8000 at the stripe if all goes to plan. You never know till you see the numbers.
I just prefer two kits over one big one they are easier for me to tune that way. Before this i always ran BBC for 25 years the ford motor just looked strange to me. I always build my own engines until this onbute i knew that i had to have help thats where kaase, kuntz, charlie evans and BF evans came in. They have forgot more than i will ever know about the 385 series.
Not sure what a man shot is but 500 will be normal with 800 being the final round or turbo car tune up. I dropped compression 2 full points over N/A Kaase told me .050 was enough quench my cam card is at the shop but i do know the exhaust valve is opening pretty early to blow down the heat in the chamber. I have never ran less than 14.1 no matter how much i planned to spray. I just went with kaases advice on the quench distance Kuntz thought it would be plenty as well. We will find out if i melt it down LOL.
How many of you guys use a vacuum pump on your wet sump motors.

Cam looks right.
And of course run a vac pump.
Watch the timing close it will be very sensitive w those heads and you wont have a lot of margin w those compression and quench numbers imo.
I had an almost identical combo, it ran well on two kits and never hirt a thing, in fact I sold it and its still leading a happy life.

I would be super happy if it went 1K. When i started the build it was going to be a simple index race engine then things got out of hand.
