Headed out elk hunting for the weekend up Logan Canyon. We are after "spike" elk, all the older bulls in this canyon are reserved for the limited entry draw hunt. Taking my youngest, Carson, he got his hunters safety certificate this summer so he can hunt grouse with my 20 ga. Ithaca pump.

Had a great time up in the mountains, came oh so close to getting an elk, but not quite!!! We were hunting in the Ephraims Grave area, that was the last Grizzly bear in Utah, killed by a sheep herder years ago. The skull ended up in Smithsonian Institute as one of the biggest ever measured. Google: "Old Ephraim grizzly bear" or something similar if you like western history. Going back up on Friday probably.
