I am in the planning stages of a 545, this will be a all out (as all out as my funds will allow) "race" motor for my mud truck. I am going to use the A429's and victor intake and 2 bolt dove block from my current 466. After using the search function I am leaning towards a 4340 4.5" Lunati crank. I am looking for advice on rods as far as what brand of H beam or what is the opinions on Ohio crankshaft's "extreme duty" I-beams. As far as pistons JE looks like the best for the money but is there any better in the same price range, I want as much compression as I can get.
                                                                                                                             Thanks Bob

http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/engine-rotating-kits/make/ford/actual-engine-cid/545                                                                     I would look into buying a balanced assembly all together, I think it will be cheaper that way, The link is just a sample of whats out there.

I prefer the Hbeam Scat with a bolt up grade ....if you are looking for an off shore price point.

The Lunati cranks seem to be the best bang for the buck these days.

Probe has a good price point on the pistons.

http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/engine-components/rotating-assemblies-new/bb-ford-545-557-kits/shopby/rear_main_seal-2_piece.html They come balanced and up to 13.6/1 compression.

I turn my current set up around 74-7500 but with the increased CI I'm thinking around 68-7000.
