Crank Trigger a worthwhile upgrade for a street/strip deal?
Hi All..
I'm building a 588ci Kaase Boss9 that will see the track maybe once a month and limited street use to car shows and cruises etc..
I've never used a crank trigger so have no practical knowledge only hear say and what i've read..
Would this be worth trying for my deal ?..or am i better off just tuning msd dizzy advance curve seeing as these engines seem to like 33 to 35 total timing..
Plenty of initial with a light-ish spring setup and a black cog and be done with it..? or just locking the dizzy out which i've never done either..Anyway i'm talking too much..some details. Just so you get an idea..
3700lbs
4500 converter
2.10 th400
3.7 or 3.9 gears
325 drag radials steet..slicks for racing
13.2 to 1 comp E85
1050 domi
Well ported heads and manifold..by a forum member..
Solid roller 277 282 @.050 710 685" at the valve..measured..112 lobe
Bushed roller lifters.
And 4 mufflers cause i don't need the agro..
I'm not looking for every last 100th or tenth either in the quarter..
just a casual racer for now anyway..
Cheers boys..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but imo its not necessary. My 950hp pumpgas f100 runs 9s and sees alot of street miles and I dont run one. (Dist locked out)
Spend the money elsewhere imo...

The Crank Trigger can be worth some power because its more accurate, but IMO its not the best for the street because the street distributors advance curves are important when lugging or lower operating RPMs that you will encounter on the street.

When the distributor is run off the rear of the camshaft or the timing set has a lot play in it, it helps a bunch.
Otherwise ... NO.
