Another Canuk joins up
Hello all.
I'm in Southern Alberta Canada in a small town called Black Diamond, so named after the coal mine back in the early 1900's, just east of the rockies, which are almost in my back yard. Then oil took over in the 1920's.
Bought a rebuilt 1971 Ford Thunderjet back in July 2005.
Came with 1970 DOVE-C heads and a cam and front sump oil pan, no intake as the previous owner needed it for his new stroker block as it was the only intake that would fit under his Mustangs hood. He also kept all the pulleys.
I in turn had the heads rebuilt and did some modifications as follows:
1971 ford 429-4V “Thunderjet”; standard bore.
1970 DOVE-C Heads with larger Cobra jet intake and exhaust valves with new 2 angle valve seat grind
Intake/Exhaust Ports port matched
Rare “Blue Thunder” 429-8V hi-riser intake manifold
Rare “Blue Thunder” ribbed valve covers polished.
2 x 550 cfm Holly Model 4150 carbs. (electric choke, mechanical secondaries), custom built for the engine by Allstate Carburetor, New York
(I originally installed 2x450CFM Holly carbs but these were more race oriented and a pain to constantly tune every time I started it up. No choke so had to warm up the engine for 10 minutes before it would hold idle, changed them out in April 2014.)
1 inch carb spacers
Holley Blue electric fuel pump with 0-15PSI fuel pressure gauge set at 5-7PSI
OTB ribbed air cleaners polished.
Crane Cam. (0.522/0.530 lift intake/exhaust; 226/230 duration intake/exhaust; 2500 – 5500 RPM), streetable cam
Aluminum timing cover.
Edlebrock aluminum hi flow water pump.
Ford 6-quart rear sump oil pan and hi-volume oil pump.
Canton windage tray.
Powermaster XS Torque mini-starter.
MSD-6AL Ignition Controller with 5600rpm limiter chip.
MSD-8200 Blaster 2 Chrome coil.
NGK hi-performance spark plugs
Taylor Spiro 8MM wires and boots
Sanderson headers with three inch collectors into 2.5 inch exhaust system with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers.
A very strong engine
Engine, and a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed dropped into a 1956 Ford F100 in 2007. Truck has undergone many phases and after 8 years, was "finished" in September 2011.
Photos to come in 7 days.

Thank you.
The Blue Thunder intake is a piece of artwork in itself.
Well made. Great looking casting.
When hunting for a dual quad hi-rise, not a tunnel ram, for the 429, I came upon a Holman-Moody branded intake.
I talked to them about it and they gave it a thumbs up.
The intake leans more towards competition use than street use but it is okay for the street too.
They re-directed me to the Mfg, AT Francis, who in turn directed me to a distributor in California.
Not inexpensive though.
