Which rim?

Ready to purchase rims for my new street project Mustang. I have Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro, 26x7.50-15, the 8 ply ones. M/T suggests 3.5 - 6.5 inch rims.
Trying to decide between 4 or 6 inch rims. I have had these tires on 4 inch rims on my old T Bucket, and the tires were roundish.
I'm wondering if I used 6 inch rims to keep the face of the tires flatter, giving me more of a footprint.
Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

You want a max of 1" difference in tire to rim OR rim to tire
Example: if you have a 6" wide rim you want your tire 7"s....
I normally shoot for 1/2" difference
