Dueling 78 F150s
I've been snooping around the board for years, and have owned BBFs is something for since 1990. Mud trucks, race trucks, jet boats, and a 1985 fox body. I have been restoring a 1978 F150 for the last four years. It started as 2wd f100 w/ a 351m and three on the tree and 68k original miles. I purchased a 4x4 frame in great shape from a u pull it for $300 and it was on. It now has a 521 w/ scj heads, roller cam, Weiand stealth intake and 950 Quick Fuel carb + all the other goodies. The truck runs a build C6 trans, dana 44 front, 9'' rear w/ moser axles, posi carrier and 4.56 gears and 385/65-16 Toyo tires (38x14.5-16) on 12'' wide wheels. The truck also has a 9'' Skyjacker lift including new coils and leaf springs. To date I have rebuilt every singe system. Every ball joint, tie rod, steering gear, the complete brake system including stainless lines. I am proud to say I have done all of the work! Engine, trans, transfer case. If I can finish it, it will be an absolutely brand new truck.
About three weeks ago I was working in my garage and an older man stopped by and asked if I wanted another 78 F150. He explained that his brother in law abandoned his truck at his house and it had sit there for 5 years. Its a 78 F150 short bed, 460, .030 over flat top motor, dove heads Edelebrock intake, brand new L&L fenderdwell exit headers, aluminum radiator, and a brand new (5 year old) 39.5x15-15 Super Swampers. Bottom line, I paid $2500 and it took less than $100 to get it running and driving.
