Let it eat?
Hi All,
I need some advice...
I have a 10:1 532ci w/SCJ's that flow in the 370's and 235's @.600. Cam is sft 266/276 @.050 lift is in the high 600's, lsa 110.
Weiand ported tunnel, pump gas deal. It's going into a new DragBoat. The boat was to be a Lake HotRod that the wife and I would spent time in during the weekdays at the lake and on the Colorado river.
I wanted a motor that had some zip and ran on pump gas, something the wife could shoe if needed. I know things change and I should have known better....to begin with. Now I want to do some racing with it.
I need to come up on the driving curve of this boat so I purposely under sized carbs on the motor with two cheap QFT slayer 750 vac sec carbs. I think they'll be ok to get some seat time in the hull, but I want to build from this platform for now. (I have plans for a "A" headed motor down the road) Since the Weiand has a 4150 carb top I was thinking of going with a 4150 1050 cfm carb. Then the question arose, would a 1050 dominator be more advantageous to this 533 motor's airflow? 4500 tops are rare ($$) to come by for the Weiand and I haven't read much about or seen any pictures of anyone doing a conversion other than using a 4500 to 4150 adapter. The reason for the larger 4500 vs the 4150 is that I'd like to spray this motor for about 200hp on top of what it will NA produce. Since the dommy's are known for torque, I figured let it eat under the spray with some race fuel in the tank. Do you all think the 4500's would work better in this odd situation? Life has a way of changing one's plans.
Any advice or sage wisdom is welcomed...

Make a 4500 to out of the 4150 on its not hard, it you can't find a dominator one.
From my experience dominators kick even the big 4150's ass in the power department

Ok, Cool...
I'll convert the 4150 top. I have a small mill that I can enlarge the 4150 opening with. Is this process as simple as drilling and tapping some new carb stud holes or is there fill welding required to extend the carb pad? I've searched the web but haven't seen an example to go from.
P.S. Thanks!

Re: Let it eat?
I went to Fashenal and bought 5/16 aluminum treaded rod cut it to fit the old holes even flush and lock tited them in then drilled new holes and tapped them. The new holes will hit about half of the old ones

Re: Let it eat?
Get some threaded aluminum rod or bolts to fill the existing holes
Then fit the dominators, make sure to measure three time before you start cutting and drilling
