Some engines it helps and some engines it does not.
In my opinion: A waste of money on a Big Block Ford where it could be better spent elsewhere.

Thanks Randy, I acquired one a while ago in a multi deal, but I can let it go or use the plate elsewhere.

Not much to read, it is a Valley pan girdle which is supposed to stop the movement in the top end in stock block applications, like cylinder distortion /ring wear/block flexing usually in applications where blocks like to split in half...like some of the chevy counterparts, probably marketed by one. Because I have one here I thought I would see if it was worth the installation costs or if I should get rid of it.

A girdle on a skirted block where the caps are machined flat parallel with the pan rail and all tied together with the girdle against both, is a good added benefit.

But a 460 block and the newer girdles with spacers between it and the cap. does little in my way of thinking. It may help some in the torsional movement in the block, but I had rather just add a front and rear mounting plate and do the same thing, probably better.

They do hold all the parts nicely together when it does go boom though. Cool

Great carry handle if you waste one..... Not much good for anything else.

4 bolt caps, full contact cap straps or a full cap contact girdle are the only soultions worth a crap on a stock block.
