Stock valve covers Empty Stock valve covers

Post  Prlanger April 30th 2016, 3:13 am

Hi guys,

I am building a 520 stroker with P51 heads for my BB CJ 71 mustang.
Does anyone know what the highest lift cam I can use with stock CJ valve covers?
Intending to use a roller cam.

Cheers

Peter

PS: I like CJ valve covers a lot also but, I would not base my cam choice on them.

The O.E.M. valve covers with the "oil dippers" won't even go onto the P-51 heads without removing those dippers.

I'm using the stock cj covers on a .666 lift solid roller, (Iron CJ heads). just removed the oiling dipper/tabs inside.

I used stock valve covers with a .660 lift solid roller. Rockers tapped the cover so I just ran two valve cover gaskets to gain enough clearance.
