Anyways not trying to make anyone mad but here are the facts on these heads as I have laid my own eyes to. They are F3ZE, 3 bar, GT heads, a 1/2" bolt will not go through holes and a 7/16" bolt will. To make sure I had correct size bolts I got out my caliper and checked them. I also checked the head bolts the guy gave me when I purchased the heads and they are 7/16". I also set it right on 1/2" and it definitely is to big to fit in holes. Again not trying to anger anyone just the facts on these heads.
Sorry if we used your thread as a sounding board.
I thought your question had been answered. There is no problem with drilling any small block head with .450" bolt holes to the .517" diameter head bolt holes.

Regular GT40
So, they would have to be for 1/2" bolts then?
Yes they have the 351w bigger bolts in that application
They also cam on some explorer/mountaineer 5.0's with small bolts to in later years along with the GT40p heads.

We just didn't want the wrong info out from our board to other readers.... and I also stand corrected not all F3ZE casting had the 1/2 bolt hole but all the lightning and cobra R F3ZE casting on the 351W packed vehicles had the 1/2 head bolt

+1 I went by my own experience with three line heads. I had to use the special bolts on all of them that "I" have owned and ASSumed they were all that way. My apology.
