Cometic Head Gasket numbers
Cometic is closed and I was hoping someone here might be "in the know". I have 2 different Cometic part numbers and would like to know what the difference in them are.
H1771SPH045S
H1771SPL040S
They are both 4.64 bore head gaskets. One is .040 and one is .045. I would like to know what the difference is in the "H" and the "L". Does anyone know?

Re: Cometic Head Gasket numbers
SPL is a 4.640" bore.
SP7 """" 4.670"
SPP 4.500"
SPQ 4.655"
SP4 4.685"
I don't Know what the SPH is, you'll need to measure the bore.
The above are custom part #s. There should be a label on the back side of the package that describes the part.

The package label says it is a 4.64 bore (it measures that too). .045 MLS Head - Stock block.

H1771SPL is 4.640" with "EVANS WATER SPEC"
So, it could be that SPH is a 4.640" bore W/O E.W.S.
Re: Cometic Head Gasket numbers
Ok. The obvious question --- What is your "water spec"? This is for a P-51 headed engine.

Cometic and every other bbf head gasket ,that I have seen, with stream holes are in the wrong place. I had cometic generate part numbers in several bore sizes that have the steam holes moved to be functional.
If one does not have an A460 block with C460 or late model TFS A460 heads it doesn't matter. The other heads production and Eliminator and stock blocks do not have the steam holes.
You may run either of the gaskets you have in your engine.
