Re: crank trigger ignition
You could use the wires coming out the distributor to see if your sensor is bad just plug the wires goin to the cran trigger into the wires on the distributor

Re: crank trigger ignition
I am assuming you knew that whoever had the car before you used a regular distributor and added the crank trigger that is why the distributor has wires it will work by using the distributor or crank trigger if the car starts with it plugged to the distributor instead of the crank trigger it is probably a bad sensor on the crank trigger

^^^^^^ What he said, just make sure to double check your timing if you connect the distributor!

Re: crank trigger ignition
Did you ohm out the sensor or check the gap to wheel? I got this off MSD's sight. I had a bad pick up in my distributor and it ohmd out bad.
Bad Crank Trigger Sensor
A faulty Crank Trigger can prevent a MSD Ignition from firing. You can check a Flying Magnet Sensor by checking the resistance between the Violet and Green wires, it should measure 65-90 ohms Resistance.
Check Air Gap on Sensor
Air gap on the Crank Trigger Sensor should be between .050 Min to .080 Max gap.

Re: crank trigger ignition
They will go bad from time to time. They can cause a skip also. Glad that's all it was!
