1970 Boss 302 heads
My uncle had an unfortunate incident while driving his Boss mustang. One of the intake valves bent, broke, and wedged the head of the valve into the valve seat/valve pocket. We're looking for either a single or pair of rebuildable castings. Any info or leads would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Bryan

Re: 1970 Boss 302 heads
I personally haven't seen the head yet. I do know that the valve broke through the water jacket. I'm unfamiliar with cast iron cylinder head repair. If it can be done, that would be great. I guess the first step it to get the head of the valve dislodged from the valve pocket.
Is there anyone in the Detroit/Toledo/Cleveland area that performs these types of repairs?
Thanks!

Another option would be to use 1970-71 351 Cleveland 4 barrel heads. A couple water passages in the heads need to be drilled along with machine work to use
screw in studs for the Boss's solid cam setup. I guess it depends on how original your uncle car wants his car to be or how much he wants to shell out for oem Boss heads.

If it's not a numbers matching deal I'd just use aluminum castings and have them "fixed" to look stock. There are several companies out there that do that.

He's the original owner and it's a real numbers matching car. He understands that he may have to settle for the service replacement head, or possibly Cleveland heads as a last resort.

I've got a few people helping me search for a head locally right now. Do you know of any shops in the Detroit/Toledo/Cleveland area that do quality cast iron repair?
I really appreciate your offer, and I will gladly accept if I come up empty handed in my area!
Thanks again,
Bryan

If you can't find a Boss 302 head let me know,i live about 35 miles Southeast of Cleveland. There's a local guy close to me about 15 minutes away who's big into old Ford parts and might have something.Although i'm not sure if he would want to split a good pair or not.

A big thank you to Mark Miller for lead on the heads. He put me in contact with a gentleman that is roughly 150 miles from me that has an original unmolested set of heads! The first step to getting this thing back together!
