Dave, Ain't it a little early in the day to be drinkin' that heavily?
I'm thinking it's a good way to get a junkyard shortblock to make junk out of some high-buck heads.

Re: C460 heads on a 466......
In 2007, at Windy Hollow, I remember Jon Kaase fielding a question from the crowd....He was asked if he'd ever put a set of his IHRA Mountain Motor ProStock heads on an NHRA 500" ProStock engine. He replied that he had.
When asked "What were the results?", Jon said, "That engine was sold to a guy in Denmark...and that's not far enough away."
Your D1, 460" C head deal made me think of that quote.

Lem always says every engine has a head that's appropriate, or something like that.

Maybe three kits of juice too...could be on the road to...dynamic disassembly right before running over the crankshaft. With the milled head and the VP the lawn mower ran like a champ for the front yard, the kid next door got paid for the back yard.

With enough rpm, in excess of 900 hp and the OEM 2-bolt block and crankshaft should live to tell about it.dfree383 wrote:Any thought of what it might do? Hp? Tq?

Might require a smallish exhaust valve and/or some notable relieving of the cylinder walls to clear the exh valves.

Talk to Keith Szabo he ran a 468 with C-460 Heads with a Truck Crank with 3.78" Stroke and .080 over 429 block Comp Cam .800 lift and 288-294 Duration at .050,but he was using BME Aluminum Rods.Pretty sure it was a Nitrous Cam as he was spraying 400 Hp thru a plate system. In the article it says BB Cars had to weigh 3,200 lbs. and he ran 8.36@166 Mph in a 82 Mustang GT.IIRC i have a Livernois Build in the house somewhere where i think they built a BBF under 500 cubic inches with C-460 Heads i'll see if i can find it.

Well i didn't have to look far it was a 477 BBF 4.5 Bore i'm assuming A-460 Block and 3.75 Stroke Billet Crank GRP Aluminum Rods 15:1 Compression Cam .863-.863 Lift 289-296 Duration i'm assuming at .050, 827 Horsepower @7,500 rpm and 603 lb.ft. of torque@6,300 rpm N/A.I'm thinking it was a Nitrous Cam as they were talking about power adders in the article.FWIW this was in the Fastest Street Car Magazine in Nov.2002.

A couple of builds from the 385 Series Engine Builder's Forum:
And for the sake of perspective, a C460 headed build using a flat tappet cam:
Gary Blair wrote:I dug out the dyno sheets for the 477 from May of 1995.
4.440 X 3.85 477 CI
offset ground truck crank 6.800 crower rods
Venolia 12.2 compression
Comp 288/296 822/735 112 LC in at 104
M-6049-C460 heads 2.35/1.80 stainless Manley
M-9424-C460 intake w/1" spacer
1285 CFM Dominator
2 3/8 (no step) X 4 1/2 collector
Average HP 2500-6500 554 Average Torque 2500-6500 621
Peak HP 897 @ 7250 860 Hp @ 6500
Peak Torque 704 ft lbs @ 6250
As you can see the Cam, Carb, and headers are too BIG!
I thought I would post this for anyone who may be contemplating a build with C-460 heads.
