D6VE CODE =
I have a 1969 XL 500 that the vin indicates a 429 4v. However, I was told that since this car has an electronic ignition it is most likely a later model 460. Can anyone help with this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

A D6VE casting number indicates that the part in question was either designed or had a design change from the original print in the year 1976 for a regular passenger car application.
"D" indicates the decade - "6" is the year - "V" is the application - "E" is regular production
Re: D6VE CODE =
But the same numbers do usually continue over several years

If that code on the intake manifold is from a 76 model, could it fit on a '69 429?

Yes the intake I'll interchange, but the carb and emissions stuff will be different and could have different patterns

Plug a spark plug and stick a bore scope in it and see what the top of the pistons look like. Smog 460's have a big Dish.
