Strength of 385 series Ford Block
Does Jon Kaase have mule engine that has a 2 bolt main block and makes around 900 HP that he has used for a few years?

Don't worry, you will never convince the Chevy knuckle heads at YB that stock BBF parts are better than stock BBC stuff.

Re: Strength of 385 series Ford Block
Been flogging this ol' 514 since 2002. Runs low 5.80's,, D9 block, no fill, std. 4.36 bore, 4.30 crank, factory Boss 429 "S" rods.
Has torn up lotsa 'glides and rearends...but NEVER an engine part....not so much as a lifter or a pushrod. I felt guilty and opened it up 5 years ago. The bearings and bores looked nice so I lapped the valves and screwed it back together.
Use care when you put it together, pay attention to your tuneup, give it regular maintenance checkups and you can run one 'til you're sick of it.
...so when you tell me Jon runs a 900 hp. stock block mule...I believe it.

I built a 514 in a stock SCJ block in 1992. I raced it for 8 or 9 years sold it to a buddy who raced it for about 15 years and it's now in a pulling truck. It's made about 750-800 hp the entire time. Been through about 5 freshen ups. They'll last if they are well maintained!
