4R100 gearset in a C6?
I've heard of this being done, does anyone have any experience with it or know what is specifically involved. from what I understand a bit of lathe work and it fits along with all the torrington bearings instead of bushings. result is 10% lower first and 5% lower second gears.

It's a very straight forward swap. If you place the sun shells from a c6 and a 4R100 next to each other on the bench you'll see the difference in height. Simply trim the 4R100 shell until it matches the C6. Then everything pretty much drops right in. If you use the 4R100 rear planet you'll need the appropriate thrust washers to match it.

nice, just got my car going so this may be the winter project, I aquired a 4r100 from a powerstroke with a bad 2nd gear clutch. need to inspect it for other damage but the plan is to put the gearset and torringtons in my c6

I was thinking about this too when my C6 was built but I'm already having traction issues at the hit on the 275's so we left it alone. I did put Torrington bearings in my trusty old C6 to replace the bushings, works like a top.

I used a standard width kevlar lined flex band and did not have to cut the sunshell. Newer ones are hardened and a bear to cut on a lathe compared to the older non heat treated ones.
