need help. sick ford.
put the 514 back together and in the car, when to go fire it up and it would only turn over a few times and then pop out the exhaust, after screwing with the distributor a few times it will turn over a little more before it does it again, checked the gap on the crank trigger. was slight off, fix that and now it wants to pop through the carb. pulled #1 plug but it doesnt seem to be soaked, ive pretty much tried everything i can think of and just ran out of ideas, this rebuilds been nothing put problems,

If the engine isn't running, how do you know you have no oil pressure? Did you prime the oil pump before the distributor went in?

Admittedly, I once made the mistake of installing the wires on the cap clockwise, it wasn't happy and I knew better.

Have you put a timing light on it while cranking to verify timing.
Quick way to tell if its a mile out.

Re: need help. sick ford.
hey sorry been awhile since i been able to get on, got the car running. not exactly sure what it is, ended up changing the oil pump as i had no pressure and wasnt taking a chance,
always prime my motors before i try to start them, this one had 60lbs no problem. dropped the distributor in and it fired up. locked timing at 28*
i did do another rocker adjustment as 3 were a little on the tight side. valve lash is set 28in and 30 exh.
only problem i have now is a sligt dead spot in the started. its out and being rebuild after 12 years of use.
