4150 to 4500 adapter
I'm getting ready to try a dominator for the first time , I have two types of adapter plates to use , one is the 4 hole aluminum 2'' super sucker and the other is a moroso open spacer that's 2 inch also. Is one of the two a better choice ? The carb is a 1090 Demon and intake is the 429 G.

What RPM range will you be running it at??

I prefer the super sucker - they normally increase airflow, and with that should increase torque.

If it likes it I'll try the mafia intake I've had for years , I kinda been saving it for when i get the heads ported and finally try a roller cam for the first time ever in anything. Always did flat tappet deals.

Try both spacers if you can, but I think the 4 hole spacer may help make a little more torque in the mid range.

I will try both , I think i read before with the super sucker you need to jet down some so you don't run rich because they will pull more fuel.

The Dominator may stumble on a foot brake deal unless you can hold it fairly high in the rpm range on the leave, If it does the super sucker should help that problem.

Re: 4150 to 4500 adapter
Yea Lem , Charlie , AED and a few others said i need a dominator on it but not with my footbrake converter because of the stumble , so i stuck with the hp 950 for now with 80-90 jets and pv. I finally put a different converter in which is a nos converter i got with my C6 from 10shots , I had Lenny go through it and change the crank pilot snub to a 1.850 so i could try it , I was shocked it ran faster all motor than it did with a 150 shot using the old converter , I knew the old converter wasn't right for my combo but i never thought it was that far off. I ran 6.135 with a 1.342 60' at 111.74 mph with a 150 shot and on motor with the new converter it ran 6.120 at 112.26 with a 1.353 60' , So that same night the 4th and final pass i tried the same 150 shot again but never hooked up the fuel side of the plate and it ran 5.82 at 119 plus mph , I was shocked and more shocked the next morning when i noticed i forgot to run the fuel line to the solenoid. And happy i didn't hurt even a single plug.

Re: 4150 to 4500 adapter
I would agree that it's fat, didn't that carb come with 78's and 2 power valves?

Is it the old HP 950, that is closer to a 830 in the real world, List Number 80496-1? If so the Holley book shows 79 jets front and rear with dual 6.5 hg" power valves. You might be a tad fat if you blocked the rear PV and put 90's in but not that far off from stock jetting.

I re-read that again, pretty wild. Was the bottle almost empty?

Re: 4150 to 4500 adapter
I built the 950 from scratch with a main body from AED , proform billet metering blocks and base plate , I was using a borrowed ported Hp 950 MOD from AED that flowed 1020 and that had 80-90 jets so i tried those jets in mine just to see how it would do and it ran fine , the plugs AR 3934 look light tan all season so i left those jets in there. I agree its on the fat side , It would run 10.0's with 9.95 at best on motor when its cool out and slow up to 10.10-15 in the heat , Steve Johnson got back to me as to how i didn't hurt anything and said he's seen this several times in the past , Bottom line no fuel no fire he said , Bottle was full. Timing was at 24 , its 30 degrees on motor. Engine was on the cold side from sitting in the lanes to long from a oil down so maybe all that helped.
