I just watched a new episode of Geerz and his latest project is an old 1959 Ford panel truck. But the engine is a Jon Kaase built BB with his new SR71 cylinder heads Shocked I checked Jon's web site and saw no info on them. Maybe he'll see this and chime in.

Maybe (finally), a worthy competitor to the SR-20? Though we will play hell getting it approved for use in those limited classes requiring “conventional” heads, whatever the hell that means.

Raised intake ports. Requires china wall spacers like the 7721 edelbrock sbf head.

Just how much are the intake ports raised?

Good eye Lem. They dropped in a lifter valley plate then the manifold. They said it made 1027hp @6700 and 903tq @ 4600 with the TBS 871 blower on pump gas. He also said it had longer valves with a diameter of 2.375 In. and 1.76 Ex.

I have repeatedly said we needed a bbf head like this since the P51 came out . wonder if it uses a mafia intake or dedicated for this head?

What I remember from talking about it at the PRI show was it was going to have an extended intake flange face so a regular CJ manifold would still fit. I hope that is still the case.

Does look like the intake face is extended with the picture of Kaase and David. That's pretty slick.

Extented,  kind of like the Edelbrock 7721 15* sbf head that's been around for years.

Nice chambers. Are these heads set up to use the 18 bolt system??
Also, any preliminary flow test data on them??
For the expert builders.....where do these heads fall in the pecking order of the BBF cyl. head list??

You are correct Randy. I went back and watched the video again and the blower intake used was a TBS off the shelf CJ unit and off the self headers with CJ pattern.

Not exactly competition for the SR20. What exactly is the gain (in hp) in raising the CJ intake port location for a typical N/A combination?

How conventional can they be if the factory valve covers and intakes wont even fit????

Cool looking heads.
What is the application for these heads (if they actually start selling them)?
Looks like they use standard Victor or Mafia intake manifolds.
Standard CJ exhaust flange - raised? I can't tell.

The P51 and new AFR head make 900+ hp - I would guess this will support more?

Where does the A460 fit in this picture?

Always fun looking at new cylinder head offerings or potential ones.

kaase - Jon Kaase SR71 Cylinder Heads Empty From Kaase

Post  jonkaase August 16th 2018, 4:08 pm

OK, here is a little info:

we have been working on this head for 4 years
we have been tight lipped about it because I want to have a good supply of complete heads in stock before we advertise it
we have 100 castings here now, about 50 are completely machined
we do all the machining in house
we have valves and guide plates for them in stock
the valves are 2.375 x 5.7, and 1.76 x 5.32
the exhaust side of the head is same as P-51, the valve cover rail on the exhaust side is stock height
the intake side of the head is 1/2" higher than stock, but you can see the pictures, it's not very noticeable
the intake valve bowl is about 1/2" deeper
the exhaust valve bowl is about .300" deeper

We have done lots of dyno testing on a 598, 4.6 bore x 4.5, flat top pistons, 15 to 1, cam is 286-296-114, .460 lobe, Comp 1.73 steel stud mounted rockers with no stud girdle, wet sump, at times vacuum pump
the heads are unported but the chambers come cnc finished
the manifold is an unported Trick Flow for 4500 with big Dominator carb
the power has been 1080-1130HP, with the 1130 using a vacuum pump and port matched intake
some of the runs were never under 1060HP between 6100 and 7800 rpm

they are planned around a 4.5 to 4.625 bore
they will work on a 4.390 bore

I can answer any questions on this thread.... Kaase
