6067 Edelbrock heads
Do the protrusions of the push rod holes need to be addressed on these heads? 2 ports are worse than the other 2 ports. Also the exhaust port seems to have an bump in the side wall.
The entrees on intake are not blended very well either. Is it worth the effort to clean em up? going on a 521 11\1 jet boat.

Get some thin brass tubing and some epoxy and insert the tubing into the pushrod hole. Knock down the cast in protrusion until you just begin to see the brass shining through.
You are basically making that side of the port straight. The Edelbrock head castings are kind of "all over the map" when it comes to those pushrod protrusions....some are very slight, and some are very huge!!
This is basically what I did on mine. Going on a 557.
Oak Hills, huh??......I am in Hesperia!!

AHHHHH YES. those hateful humps. I think its the C/J casting though. I don't under stand why its those only two ports per head?

Leave them just smooth them out a little it’s not a gigantic gain for the PITA work to put the tubes in
Short turn and bowl along with bigger valves is the ticket

BECAUSE ... two ports are a different side angle than the other two ports.
All four ports are not the same
Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
BBFTorino could you post some pictures of the tubes your talking about. Ive seen post put into the head bolts on exhaust side, but never on intake side. Would this work be worthwhile on a blown engine, or boost will overcome?

Then you remember wrong. All 4 intake ports are NOT the same. Any CJ size ports all have some pushrod bumps.
Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
Sorry, I dont have any pics of them. I should have taken pics when I did it.litshoot wrote:BBFTorino could you post some pictures of the tubes your talking about. Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
It did'nt take much work at all, I used a very aggressive cutter that ripped thru aluminum like butter!!dfree383 wrote:Leave them just smooth them out a little it’s not a gigantic gain for the PITA work to put the tubes in

Of course when you start getting close, you'll want to switch to a much less aggressive / fine cutter that is rather gentle.
Putting in the tubes only took a few mins. They are split down the length so you can easily compress or squeeze them in and they fit pretty snug already, the epoxy just seals off any air leaks, and holds `em from slipping.
I feel it was well worth the effort (at least for me) because Chevy's all have every advantage they can get, so why not me??...LOL

I got it from OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) in Hesperia.....but they are closing/going out of business so I dont know if they still have some.
You can also get it at a Hobby store.

Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
so just to follow you get a tube the approximate size of the hole, slice it to fit tight and epoxy it in then grind away till you get the angle and or the port flow you want. What size tube, and what type of epoxy

Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
It's a waste of time, You will not see one pit of performance gain working on the push rd pinch.
All of your flow gains are going to be with in an inch of your seat. unless your going up in valve size and max porting, and then the push rod pinch still wont help much.
Ford blessed lol or cursed us with plenty of port cross section............ Look at the width of the Mafia port exits.

Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
Not to try to hijack the thread, on these heads is chamber cleaning and unshrouding on the edges worth the effort?

Re: 6067 Edelbrock heads
Just remove any sharp edges, chambers are a copy of the stock heads pretty much. Not much to be gained.
