get a ring and bearing kit, comes w/gaskets- the rest can be had at a pick-n-pull place. shipping is a good percent of the cost for the parts you needFat Fender 460 wrote:wtb some stuff for a 460a

carb
I have a 750 vac secondary holley for $100. + shipping. Thats a good size for a mild 460 . I have the same truck as you; started the same way, and old truck I paid $275. for 20 years ago and slowly built it up. Now its black and blown! You will love your truck with a 460 in it. Fits awesome and these trucks love the torque. Good luck with your truck!

carb and pics
The 750holley I have has been sitting awhile , I would put a kit in it, its cheap to do . Its a newer model with elect choke, pretty nice. I posted pics on the car buildup forum on this site and on the other site www.460ford.com Its under "myf100" blown473 lots of pics. tons of parts available for these trucks. It has been a very fun build. If I can help with yours just send a message, I have a whole group of friends who have these trucks, and I've worked on them for about 20 years. Oh almost forgot that holley comes with a chrome 14" aircleaner that says "ford performance" on it.

John,Let Randy Spohn have that 750 and it will work like new when you get it back. I have a 2800 Stahl converter for a C6,and MIGHT have a cam/lifters.

ok sounds good i could use both of them just give me a price when u get a chance. i have ran into a problem with the frame of the truck. I'm not sure if i should cut the straight axle out or keep it.

frame problem
Whats up with your frame? Theres a ton of ways you can go on these trucks, drop axle, camero clip, volare clip, mustang 2 . I stayed with the drop axle, 2" drop with reverse leafs that made a total of 4" drop. Only thing I don't like about the drop axle suspension is on rough roads you get bump steer.

does it handle very well or is it a straight liner?

F100 handling
Strangely enough it goes around corners like a go kart! Heres what we did: besides the 2" drop axle and reverse eyed leafs we added 1 more leaf plate to each of the front spring packs, and put the slippery plastic in between each leaf, (you need u bolts 1" longer to do this, easily obtained at any spring shop) and we also added a big front sway bar made by No Limit engineering. We also added "pro shocks" brand shocks made for lowered trucks. We replaced every bronze bushing and steel pins in all the springs front and back. Removed 4 springs from the rear pack and used vintage fords rear lowering shackle to drop the rear a total of 4" . Lowered type shocks on rear as well, and "No Limit " engineering ladderbar set up made just for the 1953-1956 f100. The steering box was completely rebuilt along with the drag link with parts from vintage ford. I run 245-50-vr15 comp t/a tires on the front and either a 295-50-15 radial or a 10.5 slick on the rear depending on what I'm doing. With the street tires on there it goes great around the turns. My front bumper is only about 8.5 inches off the ground. There is very little lean in the turns, its pretty much flat, and thats what no limit says about their front bar, it really helps these trucks alot. Mine does ride alittle stiff, but ok, its just the really rough roads that make it want to bump steer. They tell me adding power steering to these trucks like the toyota 4x4 box conversion really smooths that out, one friend who was a line mech. at a ford dealer swears by it on his 56f100., mine is still manual but I've started gathering the parts to do the power steering.

750 Holley.
I have a couple 750 vac secondary carbs. Same price as you were offered by another($100.00 and shipping). He offered an air cleaner too so his is the better deal w/electric choke. I have both, w/ford trans kick-down and without and both are manual choke. I am in Indiana 47452. Distance could be a factor when you consider shipping.

I have recently came across the complete front frame section from a 2002 ranger that has A-arms and coil suspension with a rack and pinion. I worked on it all day today and cut off the original frame and installed the new front clip, got a lot done a little welding left to do on Saturday and it will be a rolling chassis again. hoping to drive in the next month or two.

I think you will be a lot happier with this front suspension over the straight axle! Pictures please.
