Shoehorn
We just purchased a 1952 Ford Club (business) Coupe. At present, it has a 250ci six installed. We are considering the installation of a 460ci engine and C4 transmission. Has anyone out there got experience in this transition? We want to leave the '52 completely stock on the exterior while ending up with a fun 13 second strip car. Thanks for any information.

13’s is too easy....you can do that with a Windsor
You set the bar too low!

Why not the C-4 for only wanting to run 13's?Nothing wrong with a C-4 IMO if built right I have one behind my 466 BBF and have ran 11.20's@122 mph been in the car since 2004 although I just mostly street drive it lately haven't put a roll bar in the car and don't feel like getting kicked off the track!!And FWIW many people have ran in the 8's with a C-4!!!

C-4 is a good choice to me. It's lighter and will easily take the power you're looking at. And easier to make shift. Don't pay the chevy guy any attention he's probably been in the eggnog a little early!

A CHEVY guy ... ???
You haven't been around here much if you really think that.
Re: Shoehorn
I would think a pretty much stock 460 with a timing chain straight up, recurved distributor and decent carb would get you where you want to go. They only weight about 3000# with a big ol iron 6 and steel transmission. There is a 52-59 Group on the HAMB so I asked over there. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Oh lord here we go. Randy, it was a joke. SMH
But if you insist on being serious. I really do think the glide is the worst possible choice for a 13 second car. 13's is obviously a 1/4 mile track. I could be wrong but don't the glides generally do better in light weight cars on 1/8 mile? In a heavy 1/4 mile car the engine would practically never operate at peak hp. it would be winding up all the way down the track. It would be a dog.

That car could 13's (or better) with a Windsor based small block and a C4.

Here is what I was told...
I guess if you already had the 460 you'll have to stuff it in and see.
A 351W swap's exhaust barely clears the stock steering box a 460 is a lot wider. It may involve a front clip change to fit it in like a Mustang II set up. wrote:
