Total timing on A460 head 538

Can anyone give a good starting point on total timing for a A460 head 538 ci 13.8 compression on alcohol I’m running this in a rear engine dragster elevation at 5400 ft I’ve been running 34 -36 degrees. Just wondering if i’m any where close Thank you

28/30 is about right on gasoline with those heads so, a little less with methanol would be near what it should be at near sea level. Maybe a bit more at a high altitude.

I've had better results with less on my 526 A-head deal. It was happy with 26* on alky but your results may vary in that higher altitude.

26 interesting. are you running a locked out distributor or crank trigger? What is your elevation. I’m in Montana so I have to wait until the snow goes away but anxious to try that. thank you

I was running a locked distributor on it. We're around 1000' or so I think.
