sfi balancer label
i have a romac ford balancer sfi pretty sure its 18.1
im looking at it and seem to not have a damn label on it , wasnt sure do i have to get a new balancer or if an Nhra sanctioned track (TECH) make me get a new one ?
Anyone run up against this ?
i had no issues in oct but it was a track rental and it was very laxed on the tech i felt

I never had the track tech to check mine most all they do here is check lugs seat belt fuel system to make sure it is grounded and return springs on the carb and battery cut off

A lot of times the SFI number is faintly lazer etched on the balancer outer ring and difficult to find.

I have always wondered about this (because I don't have a fast car) but how do they verify things like flex plates. Every track I have been at does pretty relaxed checks like mentioned above.

My flexplate i took a photo of it along with the jw bell sfi label and got them printed on 5x7 photo paper to show tech guy as well , before it was in car

If it is in their rules but, you intentionally skirt them; you can not suit them if something goes wrong.
Re: sfi balancer label
NHRA is leaning more and more towards putting the onus on the racer...
Went to the Seattle national event last year and discovered that they don't bother to inspect the cars anymore... Just fill in the tech card and hand it in..
Like stated above,,, if you lie about your sfi stuff and you crash or parts fly off your car and hurt someone,,,,, you are on your own...
I did get my chassis tag spot checked in the lane during qualifying but not like the old days..

I just try and buy the best that I can afford which is usually the good stuff. I'd like to keep my foot attached to my leg when it comes to flexplates and such so I try and learn from others to protect myself.

Yep that's why you put your signature on that tech sheet.rmcomprandy wrote:jasonf wrote:I have always wondered about this (because I don't have a fast car) but how do they verify things like flex plates. Every track I have been at does pretty relaxed checks like mentioned above.
