What headers for a 69 Mustang?
I built the car in the mid 80’s and used Tubular Automotive headers and mounts. After 30 years, the headers are junk, plus I hate them crossing under the oil pan. I really don’t want to go to any Gen 2 style, since it would change my engine location, trans mount, and driveshaft length. MPG’s lower the engine, but he has no clue if it’s the same, forward, or moves the engine back. FPA’s are one piece, mid length, but only 1 3/4” tubes, into 2.5” exhaust. I doubt the new build will be more than 550hp with SCJ’s, and shift at 6,000 so I’m wondering how much power I’ll lose? Stan said he’s seen this header make 630hp on a 521” any opinions?

MPG's move the engine down and forward. About the same forward as the Crites Gen 1 but much lower. I had the CG1's on a couple prior builds on 69's and my current one is MPG. I like the MPG headers better, no crossover and they fit fairly well on mine, but a fellow that built a 68 that I have talked with had a lot of fitment problems with them on his car. However the ground clearance is just as bad as the Crites.
Had to use the short 69 water pump to clear the rad and electric fans.
I too wish someone would make a shorty or mid length with 2" tubes.

I was hoping the MPG’s had better ground clearance. I use a remote water pump, so clearance is not an issue. This is just a bracket car now, so the smaller header might not be a bad thing.

I have FPA's and really like them...my stuff has been mild though...425hp.
I plan to install them again on a 600+ hp deal in the near future....
Quality is good, fit is good, ground clearance is good, ball and socket is good....etc.
IMO they are street headers for street cars...that fits my bill and sounds like it fits yours?

Is there any way you can take a picture where the outlet location is on the transmission crossmember? I have a glide in mine, and the pan is about where the factory exhaust comes through. I hope I don’t have to modify them. The old TA’s collector rubbed on the drivers side against the pan.
