Sweet looking truck how are you getting away with out running the upper down bars on that chassis(top of main hoop to the rear)

Rear down bars
The 25.x spec's do not need the upper rear down bars to be legal.

Very nice! My truck is away from home being finished. It is a 25.2 1974 F100. I am going tomorrow to be fitted for the pedals and steering. I'll take some pics. Yep, Wes and George are going to have some competition as well as the car guys.

Guys, it might be a good idea to call an NHRA/IHRA regional head muckity muck just to make sure on the rear bars. Sometimes you have to use both the SFI book and the NHRA/IHRA rule book on some build aspects. Just because the SFI specs don't have a minimum for a given bar doesn't mean that some track inspectors aren't expecting to see it (depending on the inspector of course). It makes sense to at least check in your division/ region with a top guy to make sure.
If you will remember the Pro Stock trucks had the bars in question & they meet SFI specs.
I personally think the bars should be there (using any number of current design layouts) on any drag car (or truck) stopping somewhere around the top shock mounts as they will further triangulate the rear section (more triangulation is more gooder ).

I talked to SFI in Calif. and they told me the the sfi only cares about the drivers compartment. Just the colored bars in th spec. I was told to contact Rich Bowles Ibelieve in Grandrapids Mi. He said no problem and came down and certified it. 25.4 IHRA, Now Steve Coopers truck is a 25.2 certyNHRA and no nascar bars need either.

Well that's good that you investigated further. Better than running into a pissy inspector at a later date with a chip on his shoulder and not have a way to contact someone farther up the chain of command.
