Re: 521 or 545 and why?
Good to hear it might outlast me! I have a 6200 chip in the MSD and I finally got the hang of short shifting because initially I was bouncing off the limiter regularly in first and second. I actually thought I had a high rpm misfire. It winds out so quick and is pulling so strong that by the time I'd glance at the tach the limiter was kicking in. I may work my way up the chip ladder a bit. Again,it's a street hot rod and I don't have plans to track it so I don't really mind the bit of cushion. Protect me from myself. I was concerned this engine might turn the car into a tire fryer. Skating all over the road going up in smoke but considering it's only old school track bars (I did lengthen them 4" to get the snubbers under the spring eye and set them to touch at rest) it hooks absolutely excellent and goes straight with zero drama. Lifts the whole car and pulls the nose way up. Weight transfers great. I think a big part is tires and I'm a fan of the M&H drag radials. Having a blast with this thing while gas is cheap! Thanks again for the help.

Long time lurker, first time poster! Seems to be lots of knowledge on here and I'm excited to have joined the BBF family finally. I'm currently in the same 521 or 545 quandry. I currently have a 521 in my fox body that I'm super happy with how it runs. Starting on a backup build and 521 or 545 seems to be the question of the day. Which way did you decide to go?

The cam liked 30 degrees initial and I locked it out there. Runs fargin' awesome! From 1500 RPM up the grunt is amazing. Not sure what kind of shift point I should be looking for. 6000?
Ordered my kit from Mark at Probe and I'm very pleased. We had a couple little hiccups along the way but his communication (phone calls to Canada no less) was excellent keeping me in the loop and he stepped right up. Nice. The product is great and speced out bang on. Thanks,Mark.
Shift point/redline? Any thoughts?

Amen Brother, Thanks for taking it easy on me! Gonna start a new thread on that now so I don't hijack this one!
