Stefan's '63 supercharged 14-71 BBF Thunderbird
Hi Team,
I am new here and registered to get some feedback on my BBF project that I am doing for my '63 Thunderbird.
I have a BBF engine here out of a 1973 Thunderbird and I got that 14-71 supercharger here that I got off Ebay some time ago.
My plan is to make as much torque as possible, with a power of around 600hp max. The engine has the C6 transmission as well.
What is a reasonable path to get there without breaking the bank?
This is the information I gathered here on this forum with respect to horsepower:
• 350 and you'll crap the stock cast pistons out
• if they survive 450 and you'll crap the stock car rods out.
• if that all survives the crank is good to about 800 if RPM's are kept down
• Block can go to 1200 with a 4 bolt conversion and some filler.
• I wouldn't try to boost a stock 460 your just asking to eat a piston
Does this apply also to the 1973 low compression 8:1 motors?
Looking to make a detailed list of all required parts and will document the entire process.
Thanks,
Stefan

Welcome to the board! The first thing I'd do is sell that 14-71 and down size to a 6-71. The 14 is Waaaaaaaay to big for your needs. The engine build won't need much. Definitely forged pistons. A set of the CJ/truck rods with good bolts. A mild cam and early timing set. Some mild port work and a good valve job. Beyond that just a good rebuild. 600 hp with a blower will be very easy to achieve. Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the reply! Well, parts over here (Europe) are hard to come by and I want that blower to turn slowly.
What modifications do you suggest on the gearbox?
