The hated "New Years Resolution !!! "
Ellen and I have a bet that we will not drink till our shop is paid off. We owe about 7800 bucks on it, and with the economy like it is, we want to kick it into overdrive and make this bill go away. We own the land, and the shop was an unsecured loan, but I remember what all of those G.M. bond holders went through when O changed the rules. I work with people who lost big money over that. I don't want Capital 1 to tell me that since I didn't pay for my pole barn, they are gonna take my land. I know !!!! I know !!!! It sounds stupid !!!!
Tell that to the GM bond holders !!!!
So that is the 2000 dollar bet we have. No more Miller Lites till Cap 1 is dun !!
I'm guessing 3-4 months tops !!!
Wish us luck !!!

Cletus, That is smart thinking. Think about how much interest you could save by putting the $10 from each 12 pack on your loan each month. It can really add up quick. Good Luck Buddy

Thats the only reason I can build my Ranger no beer the money I spent on beer buys parts for it now . but with economy like it is if I still drank I couldn't afford to drink and pay bills so no parts right now.been 3 1/2 years first month was pure hello but after that not that hard but don't bother me at all to be around someone who is drinking now

Sadly Just by cutting back it paid my mortgage.
Not that I own a palace....but still.
I used to average $300 a week = 1200 (and change) a month on boozin.
now average $200 per month....most months less but the holidays made up for it.
$1000 per month i saved on booze, plus the money i saved on rent pays for the mortgage a new truck.
I like booze but theres a lot of reasons not to piss my money away at the bar every weekend.

Re: The hated "New Years Resolution !!! "
i did my share of that
there is no way i could ever afford to truck pull
or pay the house payment and raise 3 kids
if i drank like i did 7yrs ago
i still have a few here and there
but very seldom do i get loopy
but tonight i am on a misson
the wife just went to town to pick up a keg
and i made a big bach of sausage and shrimp jambalaya
bacon wraped smokies
so i am, gonna eat and drink like fool tonight
and pay for it tomorro
but tonight is the last night of unhealthy food
my goal for 2010 is to lose 50 lbs
i know i can do it but i love food
so it is gonna be a chalange

OK, we bought 3 cases yesterday, and the bet starts when they are gone. We have 31 Miller Lites left in the fridge this morning. I think Ellen drinks more than me !!

Stopping drinking is easy.
I've done it many times.

Over the last 2/3 years I've been able to loose 40 pounds by ignoring what mom taught us. Her words of wisdom were "Always clean your plate". I decided that I would stop eating as soon as I was no longer hungry. Soon learned that smaller portions would defeat hunger. Had to punch new holes in my belt since 4 inches went away. All in all, I feel better and get around better than I have in years.

Well since this is the guy who said he drinks $1500/beer/month it'll take you about 5 months...
I'm trying to get my credit card payed off too. I hope to be debt free by June except for my truck and house note...

Plus I'm hoping for about 5K back in taxes. That should help.

Yep, that tax return always helps. I'm the lazy type who always overpays and gets back a bunch every year...

It's always nice to let the government use your money interest free.... It's a shame they don't return the favor when you owe them
