79 ranchero factory 3 wire tach

460 transplant, have msd 6al, blaster 2 coil and msd tach adapter. was my factory tach(3 wire) trigger wire originally connected to coil negative(voltage triggered) or positive(current triggered) ? what do you hook 3rd wire to ? thank you
