Main and rod oil clearance on new Scat forged crank
I was running a touch over .002 on the mains and rods with the cast crank...measured with plastigauge, so take it with a grain of salt.....and I ran 10w30 oil at around 65-70 PSI.
The new forged crank is getting balanced and checked out, and I was wondering what to run for oil clearance. Planning approx 900 HP with a 200 shot and RPM below 7000.
This is street and strip, also, with a Paul Kane HV pump and an 8 qt pan using an FL-1HP filter.
Thanks,
Greg

I think the general consensus on here is .0025-.0030 on rods and .0030-.0035 on mains on an all out performance engine. If you're planing on 900hp, I wouldn't reley on plastigage measuring my high dollar crank and rods. IMO

^^^^ What curt said. For oil the Schaeffer's 7000 series 20-50 is working awesome. I can even get it dropped shipped to your door Greg...............

Thanks guys, the reason I'm asking is because I want it done right.

Lem and I had this conversation on the phone the other day, and I agree w/Curt. Leaning more toward the .003+ on the Mains. I actually had to get a -.001 to get mine close to .003 w/my new Forged Scat.
