Oil Pan question
I have this oil pan and it clears. The only problem is it's going to be a pain in the arse to drain the front sump. I'll have to cut a large hole in the truck crossmember and then liable to get oil every where.
OR
Try to sell the current oil pan and get this one that is supose to made for a truck. More $$
OR
Go with the Frpp unit. (I have to make sure the front sump isn't taller than 6-1/4". Less $$$
OR
Just don't worry about changing the oil in the front sump and stick with what I have,

Re: Oil Pan question
Jones,
You can use your present oil pan with no problem. Do like what I have seen boats done with inboard engines. Attach a good quality rubber hose to a NPT hose barb and screw in the front sump drain plug hole. Let the hose be just long enough to get past the crossmember, and then have a cap plug there or whatever fitting you want. You can get all fancy if you want, and use a steel braided AN hose and fittings.

Naa, it only came with a little flap they call a crank scraper. Should I look into getting a windage tray or screen? I have the extra long mainstuds for use with one.

Re: Oil Pan question
I can't remember which one is better a screen or tray? I thought I remember someone saying the screen couldn't pass the oil as fast through it.

Jones,
Either one is better than what you have, which is nothing. That stock pan in the middle is a no no........

Re: Oil Pan question
Jones I think when ford designed a truck it was ment to get oil all over everything under it when changing the oil if not from draining,it will get all over it from the filter change.

Re: Oil Pan question
Must be an error in the system. I thought there was some one out west that made windage trays.
