New Guy from Abbottstown , Pa.
I am new here and was told you guys are great . Was referred from someone on another forum and have seen many good things here already . I am far from new when it comes to Fords and have built many of them in my early days as a mechanic back in the early 1970's ! I have mostly been a sbf guy but now want to get my feet wet with a 460 w/C-6 . So far I have a Edelbrock performer intake , Holley 750 , 2 flat tap cams , one is a Comp 292H and the other is a Lunati 230d / .530 lift . Not sure with will be best for me .
I have a 1937 Plymouth p/u that I am building to put the 460 with C-6 in to have fun with . I am looking for the 400 hp to 450 hp range .
I am just using for the street or maybe some brackets but that is it . I am on disability so the money isn't there for what I really want . I also have a 1955 Ford Fairlane that I am building as I drive it . I am building a nice 302 with 5 speed & 3.55 rear for that one .
If there are any of you out there in the Pa. area near York / Gettysburg / Carsile area let me know . I am in Abbottstown . I am always glad to help out when I can . I can use all the help and advise that I can with my 460 build !

Welcome Jim! Check out the proven builds section, there should be plenty of information there to reach your horsepower goals.

Jim, I have a 65 Fairlane that I drag race when its running and when I can afford to race. I have a mud truck, never raced it yet the drag car is more important to me, besides the truck is an 86 dodge. and I have a 65 fairlane thats will be my street car someday.

Is the 55 a two door? It should get the 460 and the truck the small block! I will have to take some good pictures and post them. My Uncle in Prebel, New York has a 55 two door with a Holman & moody prepped 406, 4 speed in it. Been in the barn since the late 70's. I have been telling him I want that car!

Mine is a fordor ! The 2 doors are really geting hard to find around here . Not many of us 55 Ford around here either . Haven't seen one around my area for a long time ! I just like a fordor better for a cruiser than something I would race . I have had 2 & 4 doors all my life . The 4 doors do come in handy with me due to a bad back . Can't do that crawling in the back seat like I use too ! I thought about putting the 460 in the 55 Ford but with the way gas cost I need something a little cheaper and I need to stay out of trouble .
On the other hand the 37 Plymouth p/u is a heck of a lot lighter too . So that 460 fill do very well in that light p/u ! I was going to put a very well built "Y Block" w/3x2 intake in the truck but when I got to trade some things I am not using for the 460 , well....just couldn't turn it down . I like to match engines with the makes of the cars/trucks BUT just couldn't turn down a running 460 w/C-6 . I wanted a 440 but the 460 will take the place very well !
As fot that Great Barn find , you need to get him to get that "Treasure" out and get it running again . That is something that needs to be out for everyone to see and enjoy as well ! Well I really hope you can get that car one day .
